Why is Mt Fuji the best and what experience does it offer?

The mountain that attracts over 200,000 visitors every year : MT FUJI is the world’s most climbed mountain and has been the symbol of Japan for centuries and it’s so important to Japanese culture that it’s considered sacred. Yes , princess Konohanasakuya is the deity of Mt Fuji and has at least 1000 shrines scattered all over Japan . Princess Konohanasakuya represents cherry blossoms (sakura) , an important season in japan signifying a new beginning.

Mt Fuji is not only the symbol of Japan but also has lots of things to offer to its visitors. You can enjoy hiking, fishing, camping, hot springs , and an amusement park. Yes, Mt Fuji has its own amusement park, which is one of the best in Japan.

FUJI Q HIGHLAND : MT FUJI’S AMUSEMENT PARK

Fuji Q Highland is an incredible amusement park that has one of the best offerings among all the amusement parks in Japan. From world record breaking rides to an Onsen (Japanese outdoor bath) , it currently boasts around 40 attractions .

Roller Coasters that are crazy: one of the main attractions of Fuji Q Highland are its roller coasters. Some of these roller coasters have broken world records and some of them are just crazy.

The four roller coasters that we are referring to are Fujiyama , Dodonpa, Eejanaika , Takabisha.

Fujiyama : Once, world tallest roller coaster, is Fuji Q Highland tallest roller coaster with a height of 79 meters with top speed of 130 km/h. This roller coaster will make you experience heights in a way that you will blown away.

Do-Dodonpa: When opened in 2001, it was the world fastest roller coaster, with a top speed of 180 km/h that can be achieved in 1.8 seconds. This roller coaster will certainly give you thrills that you will never forget.

Eejanaika : World’s second 4th dimensional roller coaster, with seats that can spin 360° forward and backward with a top speed of 126 km/h. Its riders are certainly given a great spin.

Takabisha: Takabisha used to be the world’s steepest roller coaster till 2019 with a steep drop of 121° only to be defeated by TMNT Shellraiser of Nickelodeon Universe , with a steep of 121.5°. This roller coaster certainly will make you feel the drop.

Mt fuji not only has a great amusement park but also is packed with nature and there is no better place to enjoy nature than the lakes that Mt fuji boast. The five lakes , packed with nature are Kawaguchiko, Saiko, Yamanakako, Shojiko and Motosuko

Kawaguchiko : The most accessible lake of Mt fuji which can be accessed directly by a bus and train from Tokyo. Not only Fuji Q Highland is nearby but it has a resort town towards it eastern shores. Northern and western shores are undeveloped wild lands that one can enjoy. To enjoy the best view of Mt fuji , go to the northern shores of this lake.

Saiko : Less developed than Kawaguchiko , this lake is great for camping, hiking , fishing and boating. The lake is covered by mountains and woods which block the view of MT Fuji. Aokigahara forest which is popular around the world as suicide forest world surrounds Saiko lake

Yamanakako : It’s the largest among the five Fuji lakes and second most developed. There are towns on western and eastern shores and great views of Mt Fuji can be acquired from its northern shores. Yamanakako lake is most popular for water sports like skiing , windsurfing , fishing etc. with many sports camps around it.

Shojiko : Smallest among the five Fuji lakes, this lake is mostly undeveloped but one can enjoy great views of Mt Fuji from here. Hiking , fishing, boating , jet skiing , etc are popular around this lake and Aokigahara forest (suicide forest) borders this lake.

Motosuko : The lake that featured in 1000 yen notes in Japan and was once also featured in 5000 yen bills is west most lake among Fuji five lakes. This lake is least developed and is difficult to access by public transport but fishing , camping , hiking , and boating can be enjoyed here.

  • Mt Fuji is an active volcano that last erupted 1707.
  • When erupted, the ashes from Mt Fuji reached Tokyo (Japan capital city)
  • Mt Fuji is 3776m tall.
  • Mt Fuji is also part of Izu — Hakone- Fuji national park , which is Japan’s most visited national park.
  • Aokigahara forest, also known as sea of trees, is popular for suicides , as around 1000 people every year commit suicide in Aokigahara forest.
  • Aokigahara forest is so dense that even sunlight barely reaches the ground , which is why it has been featured in lots of horror movies.

Fuji five lakes, Fuji Q Highland, forests, hiking, sports, camping, heritage , and many more things that can be done in Mt Fuji, the world’s most hiked mountain. This place must be visited , if you’re in Japan.
